April Weddings
April is the perfect time to celebrate new beginnings.
Advantages
- It’s starting to warm up outside, and that means no more snow! (Hopefully…)
- Longer days.
- Less expensive than May and summer.
- Blooming trees make for beautiful backdrops.
Disadvantages
- April showers…
- Blooms may be less reliable.
- Conflicts with Easter season may limit guest and church availability.
- Two words: Allergy season. Red and splotchy is hard to cover.
Decor
Spring has officially sprung! That means traditional spring motifs like butterflies , dragonflies, and birds are back on the table for your event decor.
The temperature may be warming up a little, but it can still be cool out. A brightly colored pashmina draped around your bridesmaids’ shoulders will keep them warm while keeping your event vibrant and springy. You could also offer your guests a cute umbrella in case April showers strike.
Instead of traditional bouquets for your bridal party, pay a nod to the Easter season and give your bridesmaids a cute basket filled with flowers. Fill your baskets and centrepieces with spring florals, such as:
- Lily of the Valley
- Cherry blossoms
- Daisies
- Daffodils
- Fresh greenery to add a cool pop of color and some added texture
A rustic vintage watering can or cute rubber boots are great springtime alternatives to traditional vases. However you choose to design your floral arrangements, twine , burlap, and lace are all lovely spring accents.
Colors
Brightly colored and pastel color palettes are perfect for April:
- Pastels: Pair pastels like mint and blush pink, or any other shade, for a whimsical springtime look. Pastels are perfect for a light marbled look or watercolor effect, or even for monochrome color palettes.
- Yellow: The sun is shining again! Add some sunshine to your event using bright yellow.
- Lavender: A muted purple shade offers the perfect balance between spring showers and the oncoming bloom.
- White: Offset your bright or pastel shades with a clean white hue.
